new government report says one in five Americans are smokers, but the
percentage varies widely depending on age, job and education, with the
younger and less educated more likely to smoke. Only 10% of teachers are
smokers, but nearly one-third of construction workers smoke. The report
says the best way for employers to help smokers quit is to ban smoking
in the workplace and cover the cost of smoking cessation programs.
