Kids should head to school with a backpack that isn’t a pain in the
neck. Experts suggest a lightweight backpack with wide, padded shoulders
and two shoulder straps, a padded back and a waist strap. Use both
straps adjusted tightly so the backpack is held two inches above the
waist and be sure the loaded weight is no more than 20 percent of the
